About Me

I am a mid-20s, graduate student stuck somewhere in the void between finding a job, finding the next answer to the next term paper, and finding himself. Finding meaning and finding…love . All the meanwhile having an adventure in the martial art of Aikido.

I started Aikido on a whim; I was walking through the gym at my university when I encountered a poster for Aikido. I was itching to do something other than working out and wanted to try out a new martial art. As with most average joe’s out there I knew about the “Big 3” – Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, and Karate. With that in mind I thought:

What the hell is Aikido? Sounds kind of weird – I think I’ll try it!

Studied under one sensei for two years only to succumb to graduation, job search, and just the general shenanigans of trying to seek one’s place in the universe.

Fast forward to just 3 years ago. While still seeking one’s place in the universe, I “rediscovered” Aikido at my community college. Did 3 months of that, heard of an badass-awesome (and feared) Sensei who was teaching nearby so I decided:

Hell, why not? I think he can help me

Still at that dojo and studying under an additional sensei, I have so far managed to acquired a 1st Kyu, will be able to test for Black in December of 2012. I started this blog under the advice of a local 4th Dan Sensei who, upon hearing that I loved to write if I were to not worry about money, told me frankly “If you love writing, then just do it!”

These are my adventurous thoughts and observations.

  1. Aikido was one of the best things I ever had the opportunity and the privilege of studying. I see thoughts and ideas I can identify with in here and I’ll be looking in from time to time. Good luck in your journey.
